Will Mitchell Leads The Way In Calgary
Canadian Will Mitchell fired a competitive course record 9 under par 62 to hold a one stroke lead over Andrew Johnson and Eugene Smith after the first round of the ATB Financial Classic.
Mike Sica is alone in fourth after a 64 while Conner Robbins, Steve Conway, Jim Seki, Casey Watabu, Clayton Ogden and Canadians Stephen Dixon, Brian Benedictson, Jordan Krantz and Walt Keating are at 6 under par 65.
A group of 15 players are at 66 including Canadians Derek Gillespie, Danny Sahl, Lindsay Bernakevitch, Greg McAuley and Kris Wasylowich.
“It was awesome. It was fun to play with Jay Choe and Mitchell (Fox). Mitch’s mom was out there cheering every birdie and it kept the mood of the whole group up,” said Mitchell of his record-tying round.
